Born in Liege in Belgium to a Brazilian father, who also played professional football, Edmilson, Edmilson Junior is expected to lead the line for Qatar this summer. Having begun his career with four seasons in Sint-Truiden and then at Belgian giants Standard Liege for a couple of years, Edmilson Junior moved to Al Duhail in 2018 and became a naturalised Qatari citizen in 2024, making his debut in FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification for The Maroon One. He will be key alongside Akram Afif in the final third.
