THE PREDICTION

This is a massive game for Barcelona’s hopes of reaching the round of 16 as anything less than a victory would probably make Benfica favourites to qualify heading into the final round of fixtures. The Portuguese side were comfortable 3-0 winners in the reverse fixture on Matchday 2 but Barcelona have a new man at the helm now with club legend Xavi having recently replaced Ronald Koeman in the hot seat. The Spaniard oversaw a gritty 1-0 win over Espanyol in his first game in charge and will hope to continue that momentum here. Benfica will likely be content with a point though and will be difficult to break down, so this has the potential to be a low-scoring encounter with under 2.5 goals the prediction.
