THE LOWDOWN
VILLARREAL
Marcelino was appointed Villarreal manager during the November international break after both Quique Setien and Pacheta had been sacked with the Yellow Submarine languishing in the bottom-half of the table. After a tricky start, it appeared the former Valencia and Marseille manager may propel Villarreal to the top seven and the European spots.
However, last weekend’s 3-2 loss to relegation battling Celta at Balaidos in Galicia has put an end to that challenge. They took a 12th minute lead in that game via Alberto Moreno but then soon suffered a red card to Santi Comesana before Iago Aspas and Jorgen Strand Larsen gave Celta a half-time lead. Goncalo Guedes made things level before Tasos Douvikas scored an 82nd minute winner for the hosts.
SEVILLA
Sevilla, for a second successive season, have also required three managers to steer themselves away from the bottom three and the relegation places. Both Jose Luis Mendilibar and Diego Alonso were relieved of their duties in the opening stages of the campaign before Quique Sanchez Flores came under serious pressure.
The former Watford and Espanyol boss has eventually settled and stablised the struggling Andalusian giants and their results have actually made them one of the more in-form teams in La Liga. They most recently hammered regional rivals Granada by three goals to nil to make it eight victories and three draws in their last 13 matches.

THE PREDICTION
Villarreal, due to their loss to Celta, are now no longer in even a half-decent position to finish in the top seven but Marcelino will still be looking to finish with a flourish as they attempt to rebuild ahead of a more serious challenge next year. Sevilla will go to El Madrigal as one of the in-form teams in the entire country but their performances, as well as off-field issues, do leave a lot of reason to be genuinely concerned about their prospects. Siding with Villarreal and their home advantage seems the way to go for this one.
TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – VILLARREAL TO WIN OR DRAW
