THE PREDICTION

Sporting Lisbon beat Boavista 0-3 away from home last Monday to make the most of Porto’s slip-up at Sporting Braga but defending their Primeira Liga title still looks like a pipe dream with three games to go. If Porto beat Vizela on Saturday Sporting Lisbon will need to win all three of their games and hope that the leaders capitulate in a huge way but, realistically, this title was lost once and for all in their last home game when they lost 0-2 to Benfica. Travelling Gil Vicente have drawn back-to-back games at Famalicao and at home to Pacos Ferreira as their excellent season looks to be petering out but they have been away specialists of the highest order this season, with just two defeats on the road. Taking Gil Vicente at draw no bet in a one-off punt could prove the call of the weekend if the hosts’ heads are down but the sensible option is avoiding the result and opting for both teams to score. Gil Vicente have failed to score on the road just once this season, with Sporting Lisbon failing to score just once at home.
