SALERNITANA
Salernitana played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Roma last time out and will hope to build on what was a solid result on the road. Antonio Candreva opened the scoring for Salernitana before Stephan El Shaarawy levelled for Roma just after the break. Boulaye Dia put the away side back into the lead and they looked good value for the win until Nemanja Matic tied the scores once again inside the final 10 minutes.
That draw was Salernitana’s third in their last five outings while the positive result means they have now lost just one of their last 13 matches. They have done a superb job to turn things around in the second half of the season and start the penultimate round of matches in 15th spot, nine points clear of the relegation zone.
On the back of their good point on the road last week, they return to home soil where they boast an eye-catching recent record. They are unbeaten in their last six matches at home and have claimed the scalps of Monza, Sassuolo and, most recently, Atalanta during that run.
UDINESE
Udinese fell short in their efforts to build on their recent record as they were downed by Lazio. Just a solitary goal separated the two teams in a game that could have gone either way. There was little to split the pair based on how the game panned out and it needed a Ciro Immobile penalty in the 61st minute to hand the points to Lazio.
Udinese have now lost back-to-back matches and have won just one of their last five. It is turning into a poor end to the campaign and they now look set to miss out on a top-half finish on the back of their recent disappointing run of form.
If they are to give themselves a chance of achieving a place in the top 10, they will need to get back to winning ways here but it will be tough. In their last four away matches, Udinese have lost all of those games and have failed to find the back of the net in a single one of those trips while they have managed to win just one of their last eight on the road.
THE PREDICTION
Salernitana have been brilliant of late and have secured their place in next season’s Serie A on the strength of their form. They have tasted defeat in just one of their last 13 outings while they are unbeaten in their last six on home soil. That record is a far cry from that of Udinese who arrive here with just one win in their last five and having lost four-in-a-row on the road, all without scoring, preference has to be for the home side in this one.
