THE LOWDOWN

MONZA

Over the summer, the ambitious, Monza, had to deal with the death of Silvio Berlusconi with him being the driving force behind them reaching Serie A for the first time ever in 2022. They finished in mid-table last season and are expected to build upon that with an ambitious window trying to push them towards the European spots.

They come into this on the back of a slender 1-0 loss to Roma in their most recent outing, following the international break. That slender defeat last weekend ended a five-match unbeaten run of form as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table. They have scored eight and conceded just eight.

UDINESE

After six successive victories in the early stages of last season, Udinese were looking like a team that could challenge for the European spots. However, they managed just five wins in their remaining 30 matches and that saw the pressure majorly grow on Andrea Sottil, who has now been sacked after going winless in their opening nine matches.

The Friulians come into this on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Lecce last weekend and that was their third successive draw. That means they have shared six draws and suffered their three defeats so far this season as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom three and the relegation places.

THE TEAM NEWS

MONZA

Monza are without some key players for this weekend’s encounter with a couple of suspended players, such as Papu Gomez and Danilo D’Ambrosio, as well as Gianluca Caprari.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Caldirola, Mari, Donati; Pereira, Gagliardini, Pessina, Kyriakopoulos; Colpani, Machin; Colombo

UNAVAILABLE: Gomez (Suspended), D’Ambrosio (Suspended), Caprari (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Izzo (Injured)

UDINESE

Udinese have several injury concerns with the likes of Kingsley Ehizibue, Gerard Deulofeu, Adam Masina and Brenner all unavailable.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Silvestri; Perez, Bijol, Kabasele; Ferreira, Samardzic, Walace, Pereyra, Kamara; Thauvin, Isaac

UNAVAILABLE: Brenner (Injured), Masina (Injured), Deulofeu (Injured), Ehizibue (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Ebosse (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

The home team started badly this season with potentially a hangover from a sad summer for the club and the idea of potential ‘second season syndrome’. However, Monza have been improved, even despite their 1-0 loss at Stadio Olimpico against Roma, last weekend. They face an Udinese side that, in their opening nine matches of the season, have scored just five goals so far this season. So, regardless of the match result, a low-scoring encounter with under 2.5 goals is the way to go for this one.

BETTING TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
