THE LOWDOWN

JUVENTUS

In the calendar year of 2024, Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus have been in terrible form as they drift away from the title race and fizzle out towards the end of the season with Allegri expected to depart this summer. The Bianconeri do come into this one on the back of a 2-1 loss to Lazio in the second-leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie in midweek.

Despite that loss, Juventus did overcome Lazio by three goals to two on aggregate. Their defeat, though, in which Valentin Castellanos scored a brace for the capital city club, means they have managed just three victories in their last 14 matches across all competitions in a run of form since mid-January.

AC MILAN

AC Milan suffered a historically deflating night last week as they lost 2-1 to Internazionale in the Derby della Madonnina at San Siro. The Nerazzurri went into a 2-0 lead with goals from Francesco Acerbi and Marcus Thuram but Fikayo Tomori brought a goal back for the Rossoneri before some scuffles at the end of the game saw both Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez sent off for Milan.

Milan, though, have been generally impressive in the last few months. Stefano Pioli is under pressure and that aforementioned loss to Inter, which meant Inter were crowned Italian champions, heightened that pressure. Prior to their defeat in the derby, Milan were unbeaten in seven matches in Serie A.

THE TEAM NEWS

JUVENTUS

Both Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba remain suspended for non-footballing reasons this weekend, whilst Moise Kean is unavailable due to injury.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Szczesny; Danilo, Bremer, Alex Sandro; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Chiesa

UNAVAILABLE: Fagioli (Suspended), Pogba (Suspended), Kean (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

AC MILAN

Three defenders, Fikayo Tomori, Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez, are all out suspended for this weekend, whilst Simon Kjaer is an injury doubt for the visitors.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Florenzi, Gabbia, Kjaer, Thiaw; Bennacer, Reijnders; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Rafael Leao; Okafor

UNAVAILABLE: Calabria (Suspended), Hernandez (Suspended), Tomori (Suspended), Mirante (Injured), Kalulu (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Kjaer (Injured), Alex Jimenez (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

This one could go either way with both clubs now seeming likely to part ways with their current manager as both head into the final month of the campaign under immense pressure. The result is unpredictable but so is the level of entertainment that could be on display at the J Stadium this weekend. Frankly, though, Juventus have been an extremely poor team for around three months now, whilst Milan are simply looking to reset after their crucial derby defeat to Inter and recent UEFA Europa League elimination at the hands of Roma. Backing Milan against a poor Juve side seems the way to go for this one.

TIP: MILAN TO WIN
