THE LOWDOWN

HELLAS VERONA

Hellas Verona began the season with back-to-back victories. The only other time they achieved that saw them go on to win their only Italian title but this time around they endured a 14-match winless run of form that saw them plunged into the relegation battle. However, they stuck by Marco Baroni and have steadied themselves in the bottom-half of Serie A.

Verona come into this one on the back of another vital victory as they defeated UEFA Europa Conference League finalists Fiorentina by two goals to one at the Bentegodi last weekend. Darko Lazovic gave them the lead after 13 minutes from the penalty spot before Gaetano Castrovilli equalised just before half-time. Tomas Noslin notched a 59th minute winner, though.

TORINO

It has been confirmed that Torino boss Ivan Juric will be departing the Piedmont-based club at the end of this season. It has been a really bizarre campaign throughout. They remain in contention for a top seven or eight finish and potential UEFA Europa Conference League qualification but have been one of the lowest scorers in the league.

They have notched just 31 times in their 35 games so far this season with only Empoli and bottom-of-the-table, already relegated Salernitana having scored fewer. Torino’s most recent outing saw them held to a third draw in four matches with a 0-0 sharing of the spoils against Bologna, meaning they are now winless in five matches.

THE TEAM NEWS

HELLAS VERONA

Juan Manuel Cruz remains a doubt for Hellas Verona this weekend against Torino, whilst midfielder Michael Folorunsho is missing through suspension.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Montipo; Centonze, Magnani, Coppola, Vinagre; Duda, Serdar; Lazovic, Suslov, Noslin; Bonazzoli

UNAVAILABLE: Folorunsho (Suspended)

QUESTIONABLE: Cruz (Injured)

TORINO

Croatia international attacking midfielder Nikola Vlasic is unavailable due to injury for this weekend, whilst defender Koffi Djidji is also missing.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-1-2): Milinkovic-Savic; Vojvoda, Buongiorno, Masina; Bellanova, Ricci, Ilic, Rodriguez; Sanabria; Zapata, Pellegri

UNAVAILABLE: Vlasic (Injured), Gineitis (Injured), Djidji (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Sazonov (Injured), N’Guessan (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Former Lecce boss Baroni has re-ignited his Hellas Verona team with a very busy and fairly ludicrous January transfer window combined with genuinely effective defensive improvements. Torino, as mentioned, are propelling themselves into the race for a European spot in spite of the fact they have such poor attacking numbers. This one has the potential to be incredibly tedious and painful for the neutral to watch with under 2.5 goals extremely likely.

TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
