THE LOWDOWN
BOLOGNA
Thiago Motta is creating history at Bologna as they chase a top four finish and potential UEFA Champions League qualification for the first time ever. They managed yet another victory last weekend over fellow top four hopefuls Atalanta in Bergamo and that was their sixth straight Serie A win for the first time since 1967.
In that match, Bologna went behind after 28 minutes when in-form Nigeria winger Ademola Lookman scored for Atalanta. However, Bologna’s talismanic striker Joshua Zirkzee pulled them level with a 57th minute penalty before Scotland international and Bologna captain, Lewis Ferguson, scored a winning goal just four minutes later.
INTER MILAN
Ahead of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg at the Metropolitano against Atletico Madrid a few days after this weekend, in a tie that they are currently leading by a goal to nil, Simone Inzaghi will be hoping for another fairly easy match day in Serie A as they attempt to keep their squad in tact and cruise to at least two trophies this season, having already won the Supercoppa Italiana.
The other trophy should indeed be the Scudetto as the Nerazzurri begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting 15 points clear of second-place Juventus with only 11 games to go. Inter come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat of Genoa at San Siro last weekend, extending their winning streak to 12 matches across all competitions.
THE TEAM NEWS
BOLOGNA
Thiago Motta has more or less a clean bill of health this weekend with only long-term absentee Adama Soumaoro remaining unavailable for Bologna due to injury.
PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Skorupski; Posch, Beukema, Calafiori, Kristiansen; Freuler; Orsolini, Fabbian, Ferguson, Ndoye; Zirkzee

INTER MILAN
Inter have a few absentees this weekend with midfield duo Stefano Sensi and Hakan Calhanoglu unavailable, as well as wing-back, Juan Cuadrado.
PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, de Vrij, Augusto; Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Sanchez, Martinez
UNAVAILABLE: Calhanoglu (Injured), Sensi (Injured), Cuadrado (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
Thiago Motta’s Bologna have been utterly magnificent in the last month and a half or so and they will hope that Karl-Heinz Rummenigge openly discussing Bayern Munich’s 40 million euro buy back clause for Joshua Zirkzee does not distract the in-form Dutchman. Given that Bologna will attempt to play their own way but adapt to the standard of the opposition and the aforementioned point that Inter will simply be seeking to avoid any sort of injury in this one, a surprisingly uneventful encounter may well be in store and a good bet.
