THE PREDICTION

Mainz 05’s 2-1 defeat away to Greuther Furth a couple of weeks ago, prior to the international break, made it just one win in their last five matches in all competitions. The home team sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table, which will be viewed as a relatively good season. They come up against a Hoffenheim side that have suffered back-to-back defeats in their most recent outings as they have won just one of their last five matches. Sebastian Hoeness’ side returned from the winter break in the top four but they have now slipped down the table ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. Only three teams have scored more goals than Hoffenheim this season and given that Mainz scored and conceded more than a goal per game, both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one between two out-of-form sides.
