THE PREDICTION
To say it’s been a dramatic international break at Bayern Munich would be an understatement! Julian Nagelsmann was on holiday when news broke of his imminent sacking, which was confirmed soon after. Before Bayern fans had a chance to draw breath, former Borussia Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel had been appointed as Nagelsmann’s replacement. His task will be to finish above his old side, who leapfrogged the reigning champions into top spot in the Bundesliga heading into the break. Tuchel will need to hit the ground running with Borussia Dortmund enjoying a wonderful patch of form, which has seen them accumulate 28 points from the last 30 available to them.
Fixtures between these two great old rivals never seem to disappoint, the last seven in all competitions having seen both teams scored and over 2.5 goals. This particular encounter has a bigger air of mystery about it due to the appointment of Tuchel. But with Bayern needing to win, an attacking style of play is expected from the hosts, which should lead to another open contest. Therefore, back over 2.5 goals to be scored here.
