ERZGEBIRGE AUE
- Erzgebirge Aue suffered a second loss in a row as they were beaten by Heidenheim last weekend and it was also the second game in succession that Aue conceded three goals with those defensive issues needing to be fixed ahead of this game with Karlsruher SC.
- Aue were thankful to goalkeeper Martin Mannel who saved from the spot in the first half but that only delayed the inevitable as Calogero Rizzuto put through his own net just a few minutes into the second half before two further goals followed.
- Aue will need to respond here but they are still without a handful of players because of injury and they may need to make some changes from the squad selected last week with little hope of any of their injured players returning.
KARLSRUHER SC
- Karlsruher SC drew for the third game in succession in Bundesliga 2 and despite avoiding defeat in their last four, they remain inside the relegation spots with a victory needed as quickly as possible.
- Anis Ben-Hatira had a great chance to give his side the lead but his spot kick at the start of the second half was saved and St. Pauli took the lead soon after, although the hosts responded within two minutes through Jerome Gondorf.
- That strike proved to be the end of the scoring as the two teams could not be separated but in their attempt to pick up their first win in four, they will be without a trio of suspended players in Gondorf, Manuel Stiefler and Philipp Hofmann after they were all booked for the fifth time of the campaign last week.
THE PREDICTION
Karlsruher SC extended their unbeaten run to four matches as they
picked up a third consecutive draw in last week’s clash with St. Pauli
but it is maximum points they need as they attempt to pull themselves
out of the relegation zone. They head to Erzgebirge Aue without a
handful of players due to suspension which could hand the initiative to
Aue but with the hosts losing their last two, another stalemate could be
on the cards here.
