THE LOWDOWN
WEST HAM
- West Ham needed a late equaliser from Craig Dawson to salvage a point away at Leicester last time out, however the Hammers were knocked out of the top four two days later courtesy of Man Utd’s victory over Brighton.
- Defender Kurt Zouma was initially scheduled to play against Leicester, but pulled out during the warm-up complaining of sickness although he could make his return here.
NEWCASTLE
- Newcastle renaissance continues under Eddie Howe as their 1-0 triumph over Aston Villa was their third successive Premier League victory, leaving them currently four points above the bottom three.
- The victory came at a cost however, as the Magpies lost both Kieran Trippier and Javier Manquillo due to injury with the former expected to be out for a significant period of time after undergoing surgery for a broken metatarsal.

THE PREDICTION
Although Newcastle head into this match with confidence high within their squad when taking into account their current form, West Ham represent extremely difficult opposition. The hosts are a formidable outfit, particularly going forward with Jarrod Bowen in exceptional form and the entire attacking midfield able to feed off of Michail Antonio as a focal point up top. The absence of Trippier especially is a huge blow for Eddie Howe and the expectation is that his side will not be able to perform to their recent high standards without him. Therefore, back West Ham to take advantage and secure the three points at home.
