THE LOWDOWN

TOTTENHAM

  • The topsy-turvy nature of Tottenham Hotspur’s recent form is one that will immensely frustrate Antonio Conte. Spurs’ challenge for the top four and UEFA Champions League is being undermined by an almost tedious inconsistency.
  • Despite being defeated after extra-time by Championship Middlesbrough in the fifth round of the FA Cup in midweek, Spurs dismantled a very weak and porous Leeds side last weekend with the same eleven starters - making Conte’s line-up decision a tough one.

EVERTON

  • Everton are in a genuine relegation battle. ‘Too good to go down’ is a phrase that could lead to some serious complacency on Merseyside and The Toffees begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting 17th in the table.
  • They had several injuries and unavailable players for the hard-fought 2-0 midweek win over non-league Boreham Wood on Thursday. Players such as Donny van de Beek are likely to return in order to give Lampard’s side a further boost ahead of their trip to London.

THE TEAM NEWS

TOTTENHAM

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Doherty, Winks, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon; Kulusevski, Kane, Son

UNAVAILABLE: Tanganga (injured), Skipp (injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

EVERTON

PREDICTED XI (3-4-1-2): Pickford; Coleman, Keane, Godfrey; Kenny, Allan, Doucoure, Mykolenko; Van de Beek; Gordon, Richarlison

UNAVAILABLE: Mina (injured), Godfrey (injured), Delph (injured), Davies (injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Gray (Illness), Calvert-Lewin (injured)

THE PREDICTION

Injuries to two centre-backs, Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina, has complicated an already tricky situation for Frank Lampard. Everton have conceded in all but one of their league games under the former Chelsea boss and that was against the league’s out-of-form side Leeds United. Tottenham always have goals in them with the combination of Son and Kane up-front, now accompanied by the impressive Dejan Kulusevski in a vibrant front three. An issue for them has been defensively for Conte, albeit back-to-back midweeks in which they have lost 1-0 to stubborn opposition in Burnley and Middlesbrough highlighted issues at both ends, really. Spurs will be the favourites for this one and given the doubtful return of Demarai Gray and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, they will be confident of limiting a struggling Everton side to few chances.

Tip: TOTTENHAM TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
