THE LOWDOWN

SOUTHAMPTON

  • It has been a miserable week for Southampton so far, who have lost against both Aston Villa and Newcastle, the latter after having taken the lead at home which will only compound their misery.
  • Nathan Tella is edging closer to a return for the Saints, however both goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and centre-back Lyanco remain out through injury.

WATFORD

  • A calamitous Thursday night for Watford saw them thrashed 4-0 away to Wolves, a result they brought on themselves through silly individual errors which now leave them with a mountain to climb in terms of Premier League survival.
  • Ismaila Sarr’s latest injury has no doubt proven a catastrophic blow to their hopes of beating the drop and Roy Hodgson will desperately hoping that the likes of Jeremy Ngakia and William Troost-Ekong will be passed fit for this one.

WATFORD

THE PREDICTION

Whilst is has been an awful week on the pitch for Southampton, they have an excellent chance to end it on a high against a Watford side, who were frankly abysmal at Molineux this past Thursday night. Roy Hodgson’s side played like a team who had given up and accepted relegation come the end of the season. Most importantly, the Hornets simply lack the quality at both ends of the pitch to compete in the top flight as it stands. Southampton meanwhile, boast stronger players across all areas and it’s very difficult not to see them scoring against this Watford backline and out-of-form goalkeeper Ben Foster. Provided the Saints tighten up defensively, victory should be theirs.

Tip: SOUTHAMPTON TO WIN
