THE LOWDOWN

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

  • About a month or so ago, it had seemed that Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest were pretty much safe and cruising towards a season of unlikely survival. However, The Reds are now back in danger after a run of no wins in six matches.
  • Chris Wood, after representing New Zealand in the international break, is now injured until the end of the season. Taiwo Awoniyi has returned to full training, whilst both Emmanuel Dennis and Brennan Johnson are doubts for this weekend.

WOLVES

  • Julen Lopetegui has improved Wolverhampton Wanderers since his appointment but home defeats to relegation rivals AFC Bournemouth and Leeds United in the last month and a bit leaves them well in the relegation battle.
  • Boubacar Kamara is available after a long-term groin injury, whilst Hugo Bueno is nearing a return. Hwang Hee-chan will be unavailable for this weekend but Nelson Semedo is fully fit.

THE PREDICTION

The home team come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to top four chasing Newcastle United in their most recent outing, a couple of weeks ago, before the international break. Under the management of Steve Cooper, who remains impressive, Nottingham Forest are now winless in their last six matches in the Premier League. They now face a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that were expected to be a lot more solid with some attacking flair under Julen Lopetegui. The 4-2 defeat at home to Leeds last time out is the opposite of that and they will be seeking a much more solid performance. Given that desire, as well as Forest’s attacking woes and injuries, a low-scoring and nervy encounter is expected at the City Ground.
