THE LOWDOWN

NORWICH

  • Norwich’s slide back towards the Championship accelerated at a rapid rate this over the weekend as they lost 1-3 at home to Brentford, a crushing loss for Dean Smith’s side in terms of their survival hopes.
  • Irish paid Adam Idah and Andrew Omobamidele remain out for the Canaries, but centre-back Ozan Kabak could return to the fold in this one following a shoulder problem.

CHELSEA

  • Chelsea registered not only their third successive Premier League win last weekend, but also their third successive Premier League clean sheet and currently sit third in the table with some vital wiggle room between them and the chasing pack.
  • Thomas Tuchel has a decision to make on whether to rotate his attacking players ahead of a busy run of fixtures with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner desperate for a start, although that could mean dropping Kai Havertz to the bench, who scored twice against Burnley last time out.

THE TEAM NEWS

NORWICH

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Krul; Byram, Hanley, Gibson, Williams; Gilmour, Normann; Sargent, McLean, Rashica; Pukki

UNAVAILABLE: Idah (Injured), Omobamidele (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Kabak (Injured)

CHELSEA

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Mendy; Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Rudiger; James, Kante, Kovacic, Alonso; Mount, Pulisic; Havertz

UNAVAILABLE: Chilwell (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Alonso (Fitness), Azpilicueta (Injured), Hudson-Odoi (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Norwich have a seismic task on their shoulders to get anything from this one against a Chelsea team who not only boasts offensive potency, but also a rock solid backline. Factor in the return of Reece James, who starred for the Blues this past weekend and the visitors look set for a very strong finish to the season in all competitions with plenty of strength-in-depth should head coach Thomas Tuchel look to rest any key players. Regardless of what starting XI that Tuchel fields here, they should prove far too strong for an out-of-sorts Norwich whose confidence will have been flattered following the Brentford defeat. Back an away win by at least two clear goals.

Tip: CHELSEA TO WIN WITH -1 HANDICAP
