THE LOWDOWN

LIVERPOOL

  • Liverpool suffered a scare after going behind against Norwich this past Saturday, but the Reds clicked into gear soon after, netting goals without reply to secure a 3-1 victory that saw them gain three points on league leaders Man City.
  • With forwards Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota both injured, the Reds are expected to field the same front three who started against Norwich, with new signing Luis Diaz linking up with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah on the back of scoring his first Premier League goal for the club at the weekend.

LEEDS UTD

  • Leeds Utd were involved in an enthralling battle with bitter rivals Man Utd on a very wet Sunday at Elland Road, but after coming from 0-2 down to draw level in the second half, their poor defending came back to haunt them once again as the visitors emerged 2-4 winners.
  • Brazilian winger Raphinha was surprisingly named on the bench against Man Utd, before coming on to score in the second half and it remains to be seen as to whether Bielsa deems him worthy of starting away at Anfield.

THE PREDICTION

The defensive frailties of Leeds Utd must be of a huge concern now to Marcelo Bielsa, who has seen his side ship 14 goals across their last five Premier League fixtures, conceding at least three goals in each of their most recent three games. This doesn’t bode well for them here against the most potent attack in the top flight. Liverpool have racked up 64 goals across this season’s Premier League and dispatched Leeds by three goals to nil in the reverse fixture at Elland Road. However, Bielsa’s men won’t just roll over and with the pace at their disposal going forward, have the capability to hit Liverpool on the counter attack. One thing Bielsa has always shown is that he won’t sacrifice his beliefs on how Leeds should play and so the visitors won’t be afraid to take the fight to Jurgen Klopp’s side, even if it leaves them extremely vulnerable defensively. Therefore, although Liverpool are expected to emerge triumphant in this one, backing both teams to score should also prove a shrewd play.

Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
