THE LOWDOWN

FULHAM

  • Fulham come into this on the back of an entertaining but deceptively comfortable 3-2 win away at Sunderland, during the midweek, in their FA Cup fourth round replay. Marco Silva’s side will be eyeing up that cup run with Premier League survival, their primary pre-season focus, all but assured already.
  • Tom Cairney is not available for selection after picking up an injury in the midweek cup tie, but otherwise only Neeskens Kebano is occupying the Cottagers’ treatment room.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

  • Fulham’s fellow newly-promoted side, Nottingham Forest, will also have been primarily focused on simply surviving and, under the management of Steve Cooper, look destined to do so. The Reds’ most recent outing was a 1-0 win over struggling Leeds United, sealing the fate of Jesse Marsch.
  • Following a bout of illness, Ryan Yates is not quite ready to return to the squad while there is still a fairly lengthy list of injured players on the Forest sidelines.

THE PREDICTION

These two sides will both be pleased with their performances and results throughout the season so far. The home team have been very entertaining to watch with a front-foot style of football producing 62 goals in their 22 matches so far this season. Both teams have scored in 14 of their 22 matches so far this season. Nottingham Forest have been generally less pleasing on the eye but Steve Cooper has managed to implement a genuinely impressive style and strategy to ensure their 30 new signings have combined with the existing squad to produce cohesive performances, particularly in the press and defensively. Forest have potent attacking threats, though, and will view Fulham, who they were promoted alongside last season, as vulnerable to the likes of Brennan Johnson and Morgan Gibbs-White on the counter attack.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
