CRYSTAL PALACE
- Patrick Vieira and Crystal Palace are going to begin to feel the pressure. The Eagles’ 2-1 defeat away to Manchester United last weekend means they remain firmly in mid-table but the teams in the bottom three are closing the gap on the out-of-form Croydon-based club.
- James McArthur is set to make a long-awaited return to the squad while long-term absentee Nathan Ferguson has trained for a couple of weeks without any set-backs, but Wilfried Zaha is set to miss out once again.
BRIGHTON
- In contrast to the inconsistency and lack of fluency of the home team, Brighton and Hove Albion have been absolutely superb since the FIFA World Cup restart. Last week’s performance at home to Bournemouth was not their cleanest in terms of attacking fluency but The Seagulls, thanks to star man Kaoru Mitoma, still managed to get the three points.
- World Cup winner Alex Mac Allister will go straight back into the side after completing his suspension, while striker Evan Ferguson could find himself in the starting XI after recovering from a knee injury.

THE PREDICTION
This is a genuinely fierce rivalry with both sets of supporters disliking each other but a mutual dislike is one of the few things in common ahead of this one as both teams are very different. Southampton and AFC Bournemouth, as it stands, do look destined for the drop but the third spot is very open. Crystal Palace’s league position might be healthy but they begin the weekend just six points above the bottom three with their form and underlying data both trending downward. Brighton’s performance last week is unlikely to be a sign of things to score with The Seagulls being both free-scoring but also with a habit of conceding quite often throughout Roberto De Zerbi’s reign. A double chance bet in favour of the visitors looks the way to go for this one.
