THE LOWDOWN

CHELSEA

  • Whilst it has been an uncertain week for Chelsea off the pitch, they remained ruthless on it, beating Norwich 1-3 in what was their ninth win from their last ten in all competitions.
  • After only recently returning from injury, wing-back Reece James has been struck down again with a new muscle problem which will keep him out until past the international break, whilst a number of players are suffering from illness such as Cesar Azpilicueta and Christian Pulisic.

NEWCASTLE

  • Eddie Howe and Newcastle’s remarkable recent run in the Premier League continued last time out as they came from behind away at Southampton to make it six wins in their last seven league games.
  • Even more impressive is how this winning run has come despite numerous injury problems which will once again see the likes of Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson and Isaac Hayden miss out here for the Magpies.

THE TEAM NEWS

NEWCASTLE

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Dubravka; Manquillo, Schar, Burn, Targett; Willock, Shelvey, Guimaraes; Murphy, Wood, Fraser

THE PREDICTION

Newcastle current form makes them a very dangerous prospect here and Chelsea will have to be at their best to come out on top. However, Stamford Bridge should make for a partisan home crowd following the events of this past week as Chelsea fans unite together in support of their club. Head coach Thomas Tuchel is getting the best out of his attacking players and the Blues have created the perfect mix of a strong defence, combined with a potent attack. This should prove too strong for Newcastle despite their excellent recent run, so back a narrow home win.

Tip: CHELSEA TO WIN
