THE LOWDOWN

BRIGHTON

Brighton boss De Zerbi received the desired reaction from his players after their midweek defeat to relegation-battling Nottingham Forest with a sensational display of attacking dominance against Wolves. Danny Welbeck, Deniz Undav, and Pascal Gross all scored braces as Brighton firmly remained in the mix for European places heading into the final straight. Although the Seagulls are currently sitting in eighth place outside those spots, they have three games in hand and could surge as high as fifth with positive results in all of them.

Brighton has won five of their last seven Premier League home games, keeping clean sheets in all of their triumphs, but they have won and lost alternately in their last five games, a pattern that may unsettle their superstitious supporters.

MAN UTD

Aston Villa's remarkable streak of scoring in every game under Unai Emery came to an end at Old Trafford, where Man Utd secured a hard-fought, but well-deserved, three points on Sunday.

After squandering a two-goal lead to draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the middle of the week, Erik ten Hag's team did not suffer a similar collapse this time around and managed to hold onto fourth place in the table, trailing Newcastle United by just two points, although the Magpies have played a game more.

For Man Utd, securing Champions League qualification through their league position is crucial, particularly in light of their Europa League defeat to Sevilla. While ten Hag's team is typically a force to be reckoned with at home, their away form is a different story.

THE PREDICTION

An intriguing contest awaits here between two sides who recently met in the FA Cup semi-finals. It was Man Utd who emerged victorious via penalties on that occasion, but Brighton have been the victors in their last two Premier League meetings. Roberto De Zerbi made a few changes to his personnel in last week’s emphatic victory over Wolves so it will be interesting to see who he lines up with here, but whichever side he chooses will certainly take the game to the visitors. Man Utd have plenty of firepower of their own though, so in contrast to their tense FA Cup encounter, both teams can be expected to score here.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
