THE LOWDOWN

BRIGHTON

  • Brighton’s 2-1 defeat away at Newcastle last weekend means the Seagulls have now lost four successive Premier League fixtures, conceding at least twice in each of those games.
  • Key centre-back Adam Webster not being available is particularly damaging for boss Graham Potter, although both Enock Mwepu and Jeremy Sarmiento could return here having both returned to training.

LIVERPOOL

  • Liverpool continue to stay hot on the heels of Man City, but they were made to work hard for their 1-0 victory over West Ham most recently in the Premier League and have since then advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals, this maintaining the possibility of a historic quadruple.
  • The Reds are further boosted by the availability of Roberto Firmino but defender Ibrahima Konate remains a doubt after missing out against Inter midweek. with COVID-19 potentially the reason behind that absence.

THE TEAM NEWS

BRIGHTON

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Sanchez; Veltman, Dunk, Duffy; Lamptey, Moder, Bissouma, Lallana, Cucurella; Maupay, Trossard

UNAVAILABLE: Webster (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Mwepu (Fitness), Sarmiento (Fitness)

LIVERPOOL

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Mane, Diaz

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Konate (Unknown)

THE PREDICTION

Brighton’s defence without Webster has not been a pretty one to watch with Potter’s men shipping goals with worrying regularity. This doesn’t bode well for them here against the team with the best attacking return in the Premier League this season and who simply cannot afford to slip up in their race for the title. Liverpool’s relentless offensive machine should prove simply too strong for a resolute, but inferior Seagulls side low on confidence so back the visitors to triumph here.

Tip: LIVERPOOL TO WIN
