THE LOWDOWN

BOURNEMOUTH

  • Bournemouth’s first win in ten games in all competitions saw them squeeze out a 0-1 victory at Wolves last week, but they now face a tough stretch of games that sees them face Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool in consecutive games.
  • James Tavernier is the latest to join the Cherries treatment room and that could see Jadon Anthony take his place on the left, while David Brooks is close to a return but this game will come too soon for him to take part.

MAN CITY

  • Man City spurned several opportunities to put the game to bed against Nottingham Forest last weekend, but had to settle for a draw, and they were also held by RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday.
  • Pep Guardiola was highly doubtful regarding the availability of centre-back pair John Stones and Aymeric Laporte, but seemed a little more confident that Kevin De Bruyne would recover from the illness that kept him out of the midweek European tie.

THE PREDICTION

Man City are still not firing on all cylinders right now but Pep Guardiola will be demanding that they produce a response to recent results here. The reigning Premier League champions were held by Nottingham Forest last week but it seems highly unlikely that another promoted team will do the same just a week later. City won the reverse fixture 4-0 in August, and they have in fact won all 12 meetings between the two teams this century. Expect the visitors to go on the front foot early and put this game to bed, with Guardiola’s men expected to be leading at both half-time and full-time.

TIP: DOUBLE RESULT – MAN CITY / MAN CITY
