THE LOWDOWN
BOURNEMOUTH
There was a real chance for AFC Bournemouth to get back onto a bit of a roll before the upcoming March international break with three successive matches against the newly-promoted teams that all occupy the bottom three and the relegation places but the Cherries were held to a disappointing draw at the weekend.
They went 2-0 down to rock-bottom Sheffield United at the Vitality Stadium before goals from Dango Ouattara and Enes Unal rescued a point for Andoni Iraola’s men. That followed a 2-0 victory at Turf Moor against Burnley about ten days ago. They will be looking to kick on and push towards the top-half in their final 11 matches.
LUTON
On Saturday afternoon, Luton Town snatched a point at Selhurst Park against Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace. The Hatters went 1-0 down in the 11th minute via Jean-Philippe Mateta but then Cauley Woodrow scored a goal deep into second-half stoppage-time to keep Luton ticking along towards safety.
They have been generally entertaining to watch this season with their pragmatic and direct style of football benefitting their style of football. Their 27 matches so far this season have consisted of a remarkable 93 goals. A victory down on the south coast would lift Luton out of the bottom three and above Nottingham Forest, a point behind Everton and two below Brentford.
THE TEAM NEWS
BOURNEMOUTH
Andoni Iraola has confirmed he has 'no concerns' over the availability of key striker Dominic Solanke this week after the Englishman returned from injury to face Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.
The Cherries are, though, still set to be without defensive quintet Marcos Senesi, Max Aarons, James Hill, Ryan Fredericks and Lloyd Kelly due to respective injury issues. Tyler Adams is finally available for Iraola, though.
PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Mepham, Kerkez; Christie, Cook; Semenyo, Kluivert, Tavernier; Solanke
UNAVAILABLE: Senesi (Injured), Hill (Injured), Kelly (Injured), Aarons (Injured), Fredericks (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE:
LUTON
Tom Lockyer could be in the stands as he returns to the scene of his cardiac arrest in December but the defender is still unavailable to play for the Hatters. Amari'i Bell underwent surgery yesterday so the former Blackburn man also remains unavailable.
Luton have a plethora of injury issues for this clash down on the south coast as the likes of Mads Andersen, Marvelous Nakamba, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Jacob Brown and Elijah Adebayo all also remain out for Luton this week.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Kaminski; Hashioka, Mengi, Burke; Kabore, Clark, Barkley, Doughty; Ogbene, Chong; Morris
UNAVAILABLE: Lockyer (Illness), Andersen (Injured), Johnson (Illness), Osho (Injured), Bell (Injured), Potts (Injured), Nakamba (Injured), Lokonga (Injured), Brown (Injured), Adebayo (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE:
THE PREDICTION
Andoni Iraola prefers an aggressive pressing style of football that intends to overwhelm the opponent and force them into mistakes. He has had an inconsistent start to life at Bournemouth but there is an expectation they will finish well and then build into next season. Luton, albeit a little more direct, also press hard throughout the game and they are expected to do so again at the Vitality Stadium and this has the potential to be quite a fun and entertaining encounter.
