THE LOWDOWN
BOURNEMOUTH
It started slowly but the season has blossomed into one of serious progress both on and off the pitch for AFC Bournemouth as they cruise into the summer sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table after the appointment of Rayo Vallecano boss Andoni Iraola. The Cherries will be looking to finish with a flourish and carry through the momentum into the break.
They do, though, come into this one on the back of being beaten by three goals to nil at the Emirates Stadium against league leaders Arsenal last weekend. Goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice gave the Gunners an eventually comfortable victory but Bournemouth have now suffered just three defeats in their last 11 games in the Premier League.
BRENTFORD
Thomas Frank has come under pressure at times this season with Brentford failing to emulate their steadiness from recent seasons but they have been dealt serious availability issues throughout the campaign. Now, though, they are heading into the final couple of weeks completely safe of relegation and looking in a good place to rebuild ahead of the summer.
The west Londoners come into this one on the back of a goalless draw with local rivals Fulham at the Gtech Community Stadium last weekend in a capital city derby. That draw means they have now suffered just one defeat in seven matches since their major improvement after the March international break.
THE TEAM NEWS
BOURNEMOUTH
Andoni Iraola has confirmed that he has several first-teamers returning from injury for this weekend's clash with Brentford as Lloyd Kelly, Marcus Tavernier and Tyler Adams all returning.
The Cherries do, though, remain without Milos Kerkez for the final game of his three-match ban. They are also still without Chris Mepham, Ryan Fredericks and Luis Sinisterra.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Marcos Senesi, Ouattara; Christie, Cook, Scott; Semenyo, Solanke, Kluivert
UNAVAILABLE: Mepham (Injured), Fredericks (Injured), Kerkez (Suspended), Luis Sinisterra (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE:
BRENTFORD
Thomas Frank has suggested he could have two players returning from injury this weekend. He has said that defender Kristoffer Ajer and midfielder Mathias Jensen 'should be' available for this one.
The Bees do remain without several other long-term absentees, though. Ben Mee remains sidelined through injury alongside Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry and Josh Dasilva.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Flekken; Ajer, Collins, Pinnock, Reguilon; Damsgaard, Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Toney, Lewis-Potter
UNAVAILABLE: Mee (Injured), Hickey (Injured), Henry (Injured), Dasilva (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Ajer (Injured), Jensen (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
We have quite a few games with little riding on them this weekend as we prepare for the summer and this one very much falls into that category. However, one thing that will be a nice boost for the hosts is that their manager, Andoni Iraola, has been nominated for the Premier League’s Manager of the Season award. Brentford will be keen to simply get through to the end of the campaign and backing Bournemouth, especially at home, looks the way to go for this one as they look to finish on a high at home.
