THE LOWDOWN

ASTON VILLA

  • Aston Villa were frustrated at home to Crystal Palace in their most recent Premier League game, but ahead of their eagerly awaited final fixture away at title-chasing Man City, they’ll be wanting to end on a winning note in front of their own fans here.
  • Centre-back Ezri Konsa was forced off with a knee injury against Palace which will keep him out long term, so Calum Chambers will likely slot in defence alongside Tyrone Mings and there may be a change in goalkeepers with first-choice Emi Martinez facing a late fitness test.

BURNLEY

  • Burnley put up a good fight away at Tottenham on Saturday, but it proved a fruitless assignment as they were beaten 1-0, a result which saw them drop back into the bottom three following Leeds Utd’s late equaliser at home to Brighton.
  • Mike Jackson is anxiously awaiting news on a number of injured players such as first-choice central defensive duo James Tarkowski and Ben Mee along with attacker Jay Rodriguez, all of whom stand a chance of featuring at Villa Park.

QUESTIONABLE: Bailey (Injured), Martinez (Fitness)

BURNLEY

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Pope; Lowton, Collins, Tarkowski, Taylor; McNeil, Brownhill, Cork, Lennon; Cornet, Barnes

THE PREDICTION

Burnley’s golden game in hand is simply massive from their perspective, with any sort of positive result meaning they enter the final weekend of the season with their fate firmly in their own hands. However, Aston Villa comfortably took them apart at Turf Moor and with home advantage in their favour here, Steven Gerrard’s side will be confident of a repeat performance, particularly with the strength-in-depth at their disposal. You know what to expect from Burnley, they will scrap for everything loose ball, attack every 50-50, cover every blade of grass and fight for their lives. Despite that, the quality the Clarets pose going forward is severely lacking and this may ultimately cost them once again. Therefore, back an Aston Villa win but only via the added security of the draw no bet market.
