Heerenveen held on to the last play-off place in their last game of the season with a 3-1 victory over Go Ahead Eagles to maintain an excellent recent record at home with three wins and a draw making a four-match unbeaten streak. AZ lost their last match of the season by the same scoreline at home to RKC Waalwijk in something of a dead rubber for them but they should be able to re-energise themselves in the play-offs as top seeds in the draw. Heerenveen’s home record is strong but they have lost their last five matches against sides currently above them in the Eredivisie, including a 2-1 defeat at AZ last month.
