With the reduction of the Jupiler Pro League from 18 to 16 teams, Kortrijk are one of a few sides that will be worried about struggling down towards the bottom four and the end of season relegation playoff places. The home team, under the management of Will Still’s brother, Edward, the pressure is growing on ‘The Guys’
The hosts come into this on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Oud-Heverlee Leuven in their most recent outing, a couple of weeks ago, before the international break. Kortrijk begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting rock-bottom having collected just one point from their opening four games and that one point against fellow strugglers Standard Liege.
ANDERLECHT
Last season Anderlecht finished in the middle-of-the-table and continued their underperformances of recent seasons, despite reaching the last eight of the UEFA Europa Conference League. Former Brentford assistant manager, Brian Riemer, is now taking charge of his first full season, though, so will be expected to build and improve throughout this campaign and it has been a positive start to this season for the Brussels club.
Prior to the international break, Anderlecht shared a 1-1 draw away to Genk to continue a strong start to this season. They began with a defeat to reigning champions Royal Antwerp on the opening day in July before four successive victories and that does mean they now begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting second in the Jupiler Pro League table.

THE PREDICTION
Last season these two were only separated by a couple of places in the Jupiler Pro League table but that is not expected to be the case this time around as they both have very different goals. Kortrijk are in serious trouble with pressure mounting on Edward Still and they really do seem quite hapless at the moment. Anderlecht are expecting to finish in the top eight at the very least and at the rate they are going potentially even higher. An away win is expected.
