WOLFSBERGER AC

  • Wolfsberger AC leapfrogged LASK into second place in the Championship Round after they recorded a narrow 1-2 victory against Sturm Graz on Wednesday.
  • The side are now five points off leaders Salzburg and they will certainly have designs on their first ever top-flight title but dropping any points could spell the end of their hopes.
  • Coach Ferdinand Feldhofer does not have any major selection issues here and could opt for an unchanged line-up for Sunday’s crucial encounter.

LASK

  • LASK lost ground on leaders Salzburg after they fell to a shock 1-2 home defeat against Hartberg and that was a major blow to their title hopes.
  • Prior to that defeat, LASK had only lost once in 17 league games so it appears that the enforced break disrupted their form and they simply have to win this match if they are to retain any hope of winning the title.
  • There may be a few changes in personnel here after the loss at Hartberg as Valerien Ismael seeks to get a response from his players and he will have Gernot Trauner available for selection.

THE PREDICTION

This clash between second and third could be vital in establishing which side will provide Salzburg with the biggest title challenge and it could be an open and entertaining affair given that the three points are so vital. The last meeting between Wolfsberger AC and LASK resulted in an entertaining victory for the latter but the momentum is with the home side here and they are favoured to win a match which could well see both teams score.
