Ethiopia vs Malawi prediction

In the first of this two-match international friendly series, Ethiopia edged past Malawi by a goal to nil in Dire Dawa, with a first minute strike the only goal of the game.

The Ethiopians have now enjoyed three successive victories in 2026 after a 4-0 aggregate hammering of Sao Tome e Principe in CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifying in the March international break. Malawi, nicknamed The Flames, had finished fourth in a Four Nations tournament alongside Zambia and Botswana in March with a penalty shootout loss to Zambia and then a defeat to Botswana.

Malawi have now scored just one goal in their last five matches and so a low-scoring encounter is once again to be expected in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia vs Malawi tip: Under 2.5 goals
