FIFA 20 Ultimate Team new icons revealed!

The FIFA Ultimate Team game mode is perhaps the most popular mode on the game, with players spending money every season on coins to buy the best cards available to improve their team.

One of the most popular forms of cards are the icon cards. These take the form old footballing legends with high statistics to reflect their legendary careers in the game. Icon cards such as Ruud Guillit, Ronaldo (R9), Paolo Maldini, Eusebio and Pele are just a few examples of popular icon cards released in the past by FIFA that have been used in abundance by players across the world.

Today (31/07/19), EA Sports held their FIFA 20 Ultimate Team reveal and took the opportunity to release a brand new set of icon cards that will be available to play with on FIFA 20.

The new icon cards released by EA Sports are as follows:

Zinedine Zidane – The official cover star of the FIFA 20 Ultimate Edition, the mercurial Frenchman won everything there was to win in his career. Following two Serie A titles at Juventus, Zidane moved to Real Madrid where he won La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and two Copa del Reys as he became affectionately known as one of the club's famous 'Galacticos'. He also reached the pinnacle of international football, winning both the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship with France.

Andrea Pirlo – The Italian playmaker possessed one of the best ranges of passing the world of football has ever seen, as he dictated games singlehandedly for both club and country. Pirlo is a two-time Serie A and UEFA Champions League winner with AC Milan and won the FIFA World Cup with Italy in 2006.

Didier Drogba – The bane of defences around the world (particularly Arsenal), Drogba was one of the greatest strikers ever to have graced the Premier League. The Ivory Coast legend began his career in France but rose to prominence after joining Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in 2004. Drogba racked up 157 goals for Chelsea in an eight-year spell which saw him pick up three Premier Leagues, four FA Cups, two League Cups and one UEFA Champions League. Following a brief spell in China, he returned to the Blues in 2014 to add another Premier League and League Cup to his already bulging collection.

Ian Wright – A legend of English football, Ian Wright scored a whopping 387 goals in 581 league appearances throughout his career. A striker with pace to burn, it was Arsenal whom Wright truly cemented his legacy with. A total of 185 goals for the Gunners saw Wright win two FA Cups, the Premier League, the League Cup and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup with the North London giants.

Ronald Koeman – A man renowned for being one of the best sweepers of all time, Ronald Koeman remains the top-scoring defender in world football with 239 goals in his career. He also remains Barcelona’s top scoring defender, with 90 of those goals coming from his time in Catalonia. Capped 78 teams for the Netherlands, Koeman is a two-time Dutch Footballer of the Year and boasts an incredible eight league titles over his spell at Ajax, PSV and Barca.

Carlos Alberto – Widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders to have ever played the game, Brazilian Carlos Alberto captained his country to the 1970 FIFA World Cup. A legend in both his home country and the USA following a successful stint at the New York Cosmos, Alberto’s ability to read the game and lead his teammates saw him revered all around the world. He is also responsible for one of the greatest goals ever seen at the FIFA World Cup, making it 4-1 against Italy in that famous 1970 final.

FIFA 20 will be officially released on 27th September on PS4, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch. Those who have pre-ordered either the champions or ultimate editions of FIFA 20 will get early access to the game on 24th September.
