Espanyol have continued to slide down the table as the Catalans now welcome a hard-fought and battling Levante side to the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona.

Espanyol preview: Frustrated Catalans

Espanyol come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano in their most recent outing due to an 87th minute winner scored by striker Sergio Camello, leaving them in the bottom-half of La Liga.

The Catalans started the season well and looked like they may challenge for Europe but the pressure must now be growing on Manolo Gonzalez as they remain winless in 2026 – a run of 15 matches.

Levante preview: Fighting Levante

Luis Castro and his Levante side are fighting hard and that continued in midweek as they defeated fellow strugglers Sevilla by two goals to nil at Estadio Ciutat de Valencia, courtesy of a brace of goals scored by Ivan Romero.

Levante have been much-improved in recent months and they have now managed three victories in their last four matches as they begin the match day sitting just two points adrift of safety, having previously been on the verge of being cut adrift.

Espanyol team news: Nothing new

Espanyol may need a shake up to find some sort of form. They have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues with versatile attacker Javi Puado remaining sidelined due to a knee injury.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Dmitrovic; El Hilali, Fernando Calero, Leandro Cabrera, Carlos Romero; Pere Milla, Edu Exposito, Pol Lozano, Dolan; Kike, Roberto Fernandez

Unavailable: Javi Puado (Injured)

Questionable:

Levante team news: Tunde a doubt

Versatile attacker Kareem Tunde is a doubt for Levante this weekend as he deals with a groin issue, while defensive midfielder Unai Elgezabal is sidelined alongside the versatile attacker Brugui.

Predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Ryan; Toljan, Dela, Matias Moreno, Manu Sanchez; Raghouber; Carlos Alvarez, Jon Olasagasti, Pablo Martinez, Ivan Romero; Carlos Espi

Unavailable: Unai Elgezabal (Injured), Brugui (Injured)

Questionable: Tunde (Injured)

Espanyol vs Levante prediction

Levante have been improved, both in terms of performances and results, ever since the appointment of former Nantes boss Luis Castro at the turn of the year. They have an excellent array of attacking options with the aforementioned Ivan Romero alongside Carlos Espi and Etta Eyong. They now face an Espanyol side that are heading towards mid-table mediocrity, albeit they aren’t safe just yet and so, with a desperation to win, both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one.

Espanyol vs Levante tip: Both teams to score
