England vs South Africa prediction

Two days following the conclusion of the Hundred and England were playing like a team who thought they only had 100 balls to face in their innings. Batting first, the hosts were skittled out for just 131 in 24.3 overs, losing eight wickets for only 49 runs after being 82/2 at one stage. Such a result was an embarrassment for the hosts when considering the players as their disposal. Only Jamie Smith could hold his head high with the bat, whilst bowler Sonny Baker was smashed about on debut by Aiden Markram.

Take nothing away from South Africa though, who were fantastic and showed that their series victory in Australia last month was certainly no fluke. This is a side whose players all know their respective roles in ODI cricket and the bowlers especially continue to impress. Keshav Maharaj is the focus of our attention after his four-wicket haul at Headingley. The experienced spinner has now taken ten wickets in his last four ODI appearances and such form cannot be ignored. Back Maharaj to take over 1.5 match wickets at Lord’s.
