England vs South Africa prediction
The last time these two nations collided on this very ground, England were the winners by ten-wickets in an utterly dominant performance that saw them take South Africa apart with bat and ball, bowling them out for just 69. Since that embarrassing result though, the Proteas have won five of their last six games, although they do come into the semi-finals on the back of defeat at the hands of Australia, which once again saw them dismissed for a score of under 100 batting first.
This means questions have to be asked regarding South Africa’s capabilities against the very best teams. England and Australia both represent a step above most other teams in the competition who South Africa defeated. Whilst there is a concern over the fitness of star left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, they have enough depth within the spin department to cover themselves. The pitch in Guwahati plays to England’s strengths and they are well worth backing to complete the double over South Africa and book their place in a third straight ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final.
