Joe Murnan scraped past veteran Paul Lim in the first round but it was certainly not an impressive performance as the Englishman averaged under 80 in his 3-2 win. If he performs to the same level here then he could be eaten alive by Nathan Aspinall, who is a two-time semi-finalist at Alexandra Palace. The Asp didn’t perform to his best at the Players Championship Finals last month but there is nevertheless a gulf in class here and a straight-sets victory for the world number ten would not be a surprise.
