• Martijn Kleermaker enjoyed an emphatic win in his debut World Championship match as he dropped only three legs in a 3-0 win against fellow Dutchman Gino Vos.
• In what was a very good all-round performance, Kleermaker averaged 93.27 whilst also hitting five 180s and recording a high finish of 160.
• Kleermaker’s only previous experience in the last 16 in a televised tournament ended in a 5-0 defeat against Mark McGrath at the 2019 BDO World Trophy.

PAUL HOGAN

• Paul Hogan followed up his 3-1 win against Brian Raman with a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Adam Smith-Neale on Monday night.
• Hogan was in tremendous form against Smith-Neale, finishing the match with his highest ever World Championship average of 97.51 and he also just missed out on taking out a nine-darter.
• The last time that Hogan appeared in the last 16 at the BDO World Championship he lost 4-3 to Glen Durrant, despite having won 11 of the first 13 legs of the match to lead 3-0 in sets and 2-0 in legs.

THE PREDICTION

Martijn Kleermaker is the seeded player here, but is more inexperienced than his very tough opponent Paul Hogan who comes into this encounter on the back of a 97.51 average in the previous round. Kleermaker also impressed in his round one victory and this promises to be a good quality contest. The wealth of experience and quality that Hogan brings to the oche surely gives him a good chance of progressing here in a match that is capable of going the distance.
