THE PREDICTION

World number 31 Jiri Lehecka claimed his maiden ATP title at the Adelaide International back in January, one year on from his career-best run to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, but he has yet to really flourish away from hardcourts. The 22-year-old reached the last eight at Indian Wells with two thumping wins over Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas but he has not played since an early exit in Miami, suggesting there could be fitness doubts as he come in cold on clay to face a serious up-and-comer.

World number 130 Hamad Medjedovic came back from a set down to beat Aleksandar Kovacevic on Thursday, backing up an excellent qualifying campaign, and he will be tougher for it as a clear confidence player. The 20-year-old surprised the field at the Next Gen ATP Finals late last season, upsetting hot favourite Arthur Fils in the final, and after a choppy start to 2024 he can be expected to make a steady rise this summer. Back Medjedovic to earn at least a set on momentum to leave the victor up to chance.

TIP: HAMAD MEDJEDOVIC TO WIN A SET
