Zimbabwe face a huge battle ahead to save the series after going down by four wickets in the second ODI against Ireland, a match which once again saw them flop with the bat. After having their top order decimated, the hosts dragged themselves to 166, which wasn’t bad when considering they had been reduced to 19/4. However, such a score was under-par and their bowlers were left with too much to do in the end.

Ireland brought their high bowling standards from the abandoned first ODI into the second match and were handsomely rewarded, ripping apart Zimbabwe. Josh Little did the damage, dismissing the entire top four of the home team and he was well backed up by his teammates. Chasing 167, Ireland reached their target with four wickets and just under ten overs to spare, Curtis Campher doing most of the heavy lifting with 66.
THE PREDICTION
The story of this ODI series so far has been how the Ireland bowling attack have consistently proven too good for the Zimbabwe batters and at the same venue again, this is unlikely to change. Zimbabwe don’t appear to have the firepower and ability to counter Ireland’s bowlers, who should be backed to lead the tourists to what would be a deserved ODI series victory.
