- After a COVID-19 outbreak ripped through their squad, Melbourne Stars will be relieved to get back to action with a much stronger side in tow as they aim to put back-to-back losses behind them in their quest to climb off the foot of the Big Bash League ladder.
- The Stars needed to make a raft of changes to their side for their loss to local rivals Melbourne Renegades but many of their key men have now served their isolation period and will return to the team for this important clash, should they feel up to it.
ADELAIDE STRIKERS
- Adelaide Strikers kept their hoped of progressing to the next stage of the competition alive thanks to an impressive victory last time out against Hobart Hurricanes and that seven-wicket success gives them plenty to build on ahead of what is another must-win game.
- Veteran Peter Siddle was brilliant with the ball as he finished with figures of 5-23 but Matthew Short stole the show with the bat as he whacked a match-winning 72* from just 44 balls to guide his side to a comfortable victory.
THE PREDICTION
Adelaide Strikers secured an important win over Hobart Hurricanes as they climbed off the bottom of the Big Bash League ladder at the expense of Melbourne Stars. The two teams will now do battle with both needing a win to stay in touch with the teams above. The Stars had to field a severely weakened side last time out as COVID-19 ran rampant through their squad and while they will be a lot stronger here, the effect that has had on them remains to be seen. Not all of their key men will return here and skipper Glenn Maxwell is definitely out while he serves his isolation period and with the Strikers performing so well in their most recent clash, they are favoured to make it back-to-back wins.
