• Melbourne Stars were well-beaten by Perth Scorchers last time out as their struggles continued and they have now just one win in their last four matches which has seen them fall to the foot of the Big Bash League ladder.
• Skipper Glenn Maxwell returned for the clash with the Scorchers and while his presence was not enough to prevent a 47-run defeat, the Stars will be further boosted by the return of Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile for this crucial matchup.

Melbourne Stars will be gunning for revenge in this derby clash with Melbourne Renegades after being forced to play their recent clash with a severely weakened side due to a COVID-19 outbreak. The Stars are running out of time to mount a challenge for the knockout stages of the competition but a win here would get the ball rolling and they will be driven by the injustice they believe they suffered in their last clash with their rivals.
