THE PREDICTION
Melbourne Renegades pulled off a shock victory as they earned their first success in WBBL|06 with a win over Sydney Thunder. The Sydney outfit were well-fancied having topped the ladder before that clash but the bottom side came out on top in a real grind of a game. With scoring generally hard to come by, the Renegades stuttered to 110 but that proved to be enough with Amy Satterthwaite’s 34 ensuring there were 67 runs on the board before she departed. They failed to kick-on but a solid all-round bowling display saw them hang on to win by just two runs and relieve the pressure on the wait for a first win. They will hope to build on that against Adelaide Strikers but it will be tough for them, especially after the Strikers outclassed defending champions Brisbane Heat last time out. They won by 18 runs thanks to a superb batting display from Katie Mack and Laura Wolvaardt at the top of the order which led them to a total of 153. They have lost just once from their six matches so far and despite the Renegades showing signs of improving in their narrow win over the Thunder, the Adelaide side should be too strong here.
