Coronavirus in Sport – the impact on Darts

PDC & Associate Tours

22nd April - All of the PDC tournaments scheduled for May and June have been postponed which includes the World Cup, also due to the rescheduling of ranking tournaments the Champions League of Darts will now not take place in 2020.

15th April - The remaining four scheduled weekends of the 2020 PDC Nordic & Baltic season have been postponed.

14th April - The PDC have announced a new tournament called the PDC Home Tour which will start on Friday April 17 and will be open to all 128 tour card holders with matches being played across 32 consecutive evenings.


9th April - The Premier League nights in May have all now been rescheduled and the revised calendar now sees the tournament resuming at the end of July with the finals night due to be played in Sheffield on October 15.

9th April - The Austrian Darts Open scheduled for May 1-3 is the latest event to be postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

8th April - The PDC have announced that the World Series of Darts treble-header planned for Wollongong, Townsville and Hamilton in August 2020 is to be postponed for 12 months and will now be played on re-scheduled dates in August 2021.

6th April - The 2020 PDC Asian Tour is now set to begin in August, with five weekends of action planned to take place in a rescheduled season.

1st April - The US Darts Masters, which was scheduled for June 5-6 at Madison Square Garden in New York, has been cancelled for this year and and will now be played on June 4-5 2021.

1st April - The Nordic Darts Masters event in Copenhagen has been postponed from June 12-13 to October 23-24.

31st March - The PDPA has announced financial support for players affected by the current suspension of tournaments.

29th March - PDC player Kyle Anderson has tested positive for Coronavirus and is in isolation in Australia where he recently returned to join his family.

25th March - Update from PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter who states that the Premier League fixtures in May are also likely to be postponed. The PDC hope to be able to stage European Tour and Players Championship events as soon as possible, enabling players to secure prize money.

24th March - Three more Premier League nights have been postponed from April and rescheduled - Manchester (was April 16 is now September 24), Berlin (was April 23 is now September 3) and Birmingham (was April 30 is now July 30). In total the amount of Premier League rounds affected by the impact of coronavirus is eight.

23rd March - The Premier League nights at Belfast (April 2) and Sheffield (April 9) have been postponed, with Sheffield now scheduled for Thursday July 2 and a new date for Belfast to be confirmed.

20th March - The DPA have postponed the planned ProTour weekends in Tasmania in April and Victoria in May, as well as planned two Challenge Tour weekends in late March. The events are set to be rescheduled for later in 2020.

20th March - The 2019/20 DPNZ Harrows ProTour season has now concluded following the cancellation of the final events that were scheduled in Queenstown on March 21-22.

19th March - All of the scheduled tournaments for April on the PDC Tour have been postponed - this includes Players Championship events, European Tour Qualifiers and the PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour.

18th March - The German Darts Grand Prix which was earlier postponed from April 11-13 has now been rescheduled for Friday July 31-Sunday August 2, subsequently the Players Championship tournaments that were to be played on August 1-2 have been postponed.

18th March - The Junior Darts Corporation has postponed its forthcoming tour events in Coventry on Saturday April 11 as well as JDC Academy sessions.

17th March - The PDC Players Championship tournaments scheduled for March 28-29 are postponed along with the PDC Unicorn Development Tour events that were to be played on March 21-22.

17th March - The launch of ticket sales for the 2020 BoyleSports World Grand Prix to be played in Dublin in October is delayed from the originally planned mid-March dates.

16th March - The scheduled Unibet Premier League night in Newcastle at the Utilita Arena that was to be played on Thursday March 19 has been postponed and rescheduled for Thursday October 1.

16th March - The European Darts Open in Leverkusen which was postponed from March 27-29 has now been rescheduled for August 7-9.

14th March - The 2020 European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen has now been rescheduled for May 29-31 having originally been in the calendar for March 20-22.

13th March - The DPA Winmau Darts East Devonport Pro Tour events scheduled for April 3-5 will be postponed and carried over until September 2020 with a date to be advised.

13th March - New dates of September 9-10 have been confirmed for the Unibet Premier League double-header at Rotterdam Ahoy that were originally scheduled for March 25-26

12th March - The opening weekend of the 2020 Championship Darts Corporation season which was due to begin from March 20-22 in Ontario, Canada has been postponed.

12th March - The Premier League double-header at Rotterdam Ahoy which was scheduled for March 25-26 is postponed.

11th March - The European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen planned for March 27-29 has become the third PDC European Tour event to be postponed.

10th March - The PDC European Tour events scheduled for Leverkusen (March 27-29) and Munich (April 11-13) in the coming weeks have been postponed.

4th March - The 2020 PDC Asian Tour has been subject to a further schedule amendment, with the revised season opener on April 18-19 in the Philippines now to be rescheduled for later in 2020, with further details to be finalised.

21st February - The rescheduled opening weekend of the PDC Asian Tour season has now been postponed until May..

7th February - The opening two weekends of the PDC Asian Tour have been rescheduled, the 2020 season was set to begin in Kobe at the end of February.

7th April - The Austria & Vienna Open tournaments that were scheduled for June 20-21 have been cancelled.

30th March - The Pontins Welsh Classic & Welsh Open events scheduled for May 8-10 have been postponed.

29th March - The Swiss Open and Helvetia Open which were due to be played June 5-7 have been postponed.

29th March - The Winmau Polish Open & Police Masters scheuled for May 22-24 have both been postponed with new dates set to be confirmed.

26th March - ADO announces more postponements for tournaments that were scheduled to take place in April and May.

25th March - The Senior Australian Championships due to be held at the Rich River Golf Club from August 2-8 and the Australian Open Darts Tournament due to be held at the Moama
Bowling Club from July 28th-1st August have both been postponed.

22nd March - In Australia the Victoria Easter Classic & Geelong Dart Club Singles scheduled for April 12-13 have both been postponed.

21st March - NZDC announced that the North Island Masters (April 25-26) has been postponed.

21st March - Winmau Lithuanian Open and the Winmau Vilnius Open scheduled for May 9-10 have been been cancelled.

20th March - Canadian Open scheduled to be played June 19-21 has now been postponed.

19th March - Finnish Open and Finland Masters due to be played May 15-17 have both been postponed.

18th March - USA Charlotte Open due to be played on April 17-19 has now been postponed and rescheduled to June 19-21.

18th March - The Russian Darts Federation announced the postponement of two tournaments - Russian Open Youth sceduled for March 28 and Zakamsk Cup Youth scheduled for April 12.

18th March - Slovenia Darts Open scheduled for May 30 has been postponed.

17th March - DDU announced that the Nordic Cup April 29–May 1 has been postponed and also stated that the Denmark Open and Denmark Masters May 1-3 have also been postponed.

16th March - The Mediterranean Open, May 23-24 and Mediterranean Masters, May 25-26 both due to be played in Turkey have been postponed.

15th March - South Island Masters due to be held in Invercargill on 10th, 11th and 12th April 2020 has been postponed and a new date will be advised later.

13th March - Virginia Beach Classic Youth, March 27-29 has been postponed and rescheduled for October 16-18.

13th March - BULL’S German Open and Darts Masters scheduled for April 17-19 have been postponed.

13th March - The Icelandic Darts Association announced the postponement of the 2020 Winmau Iceland Open and Iceland Masters.

12th March - The WDF Americas Cup July 24-26 has been postponed, until further notice.

12th March - Estonian Open & Estonian Masters 2020 due to be played April 17-19 have been postponed and possibly cancelled.

12th March - The Sylt Open and Sylt Masters due to be played March 13-15 in Germany have been postponed.

11th March - The Greek Open and Acropolis Darts Open scheduled to be played on April 4-5 have been postponed.

11th March - WDF Youth Challenge to be played in Vienna March 21-22 has been postponed to a later date.

11th March - The Gibraltar Open scheduled for March 21 has been postponed.

11th March - Torshavn Darts Open and Faroe Islands Darts Open, March 14-15 have been postponed and rescheduled for 23-25 October 2020.

11th March - The Hungarian Darts Federation gave notice that the Budapest Classic and Budapest Darts Masters due to be played March 13-15 have been postponed.
