The prediction

Collingwood (4th) is coming off a narrow three-point loss to Adelaide in a Round 23 epic. Despite generating a staggering 71 inside 50s to Adelaide's 37, their inability to convert was their undoing. This was their fifth loss in ten matches, undoing much of the good work of earlier in the season.

Melbourne (14th) is nearing the end of a forgettable season and enters this clash on a two-game losing streak after a 36-point defeat to Hawthorn last week.

Collingwood's superstar midfielder, Nick Daicos, was a standout performer in his side's narrow loss to Adelaide. Daicos gathered 29 disposals and pushed forward to kick a crucial goal.

Melbourne's captain, Max Gawn, was once again a towering figure of resistance against Hawthorn. He was colossal in a losing side, finishing with 27 disposals, six marks, and five clearances.

Collingwood has enjoyed a period of sustained dominance over Melbourne, winning the last four encounters, including a 1-point victory back in Round 13 (72-71). The Demons have won just five of the 22 matches between the clubs since 2007.

The Magpies' desperation for a win to keep their slim top two hopes alive should see them overcome the Demons.

Collingwood vs Melbourne tip: Collingwood to win by 25+ points
