The prediction

Collingwood (1st) snapped a two-game losing streak in Round 20, fighting off a plucky Richmond to win by 36 points. The victory saw them reclaim top spot on the ladder and was built on a dominant third-quarter blitz. 

The Brisbane Lions (3rd) are coming off a stunning defeat, having been thrashed by their local rivals, the Gold Coast Suns, by 66 points. They had won four straight prior to the very flat performance offered last week. 

Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos produced another best on ground performance against Richmond, further strengthening his Brownlow Medal credentials. He was sublime, amassing 42 disposals and kicking three goals in a flawless display. 

Lachie Neale’s numbers were outstanding against the Suns despite the heavy defeat. The veteran midfielder gathered 36 disposals, laid five tackles, and kicked a goal in a captain's effort. 

Collingwood have had Brisbane’s number in recent times, winning the last four clashes between the two. This streak includes the epic 2023 Grand Final and, crucially, a commanding 52-point victory at the Gabba in Round Six of this season. 

This clash is a potential Grand Final preview, with both sides boasting star-studded lineups and an attacking brand of football.
