The prediction

This already looks like it is going to be a long painful season for Carlton who sit near the bottom of the ladder with just one solitary win and eight defeats so far. Their only win came against Richmond – the only team to sit below them in the standings – and they are going to have to raise their game if they are to avoid a miserable season.

After their loss last week, coach Michael Voss resigned from his role so it will be interesting to see if a change at the top makes any difference to their performance levels.

They welcome the Western Bulldogs to Marvel Stadium and even though the visitors sit in mid-table with five wins and four losses, Carlton will still expect to compete against them.

The Bulldogs are missing key man Tim English and that is a huge blow to them. He is virtually impossible to replace and that will hand Carlton a major boost.

Whether they can take advantage to win remains to be seen but we think they can cover the spread and keep this one close.
