The prediction

Carlton (12th) is coming off a disappointing performance where they were outclassed by the Brisbane Lions, 103-66.

Melbourne (13th) finally snapped a five-game losing streak with a much-needed and comfortable 36-point victory over North Melbourne, 119-83.

George Hewett was one of Carlton's best in a losing effort against Brisbane, working tirelessly in the midfield to finish with 33 disposals and a goal.

Christian Petracca returned to his dominant, game-breaking best against North, collecting 31 disposals, 14 contested possessions, and seven clearances in a powerful display.

Melbourne broke Carlton hearts with a thrilling 1-point victory in their last encounter (Round 22, 2024). Carlton holds a strong historical advantage though, leading 121 wins to 97.

Melbourne appeared to rediscover its confidence and fluency last week, while the Blues were soundly beaten. With Christian Petracca firing and their losing streak broken, the Demons will enter this clash as slight favourites to make it two wins in a row.
