The prediction

Carlton (13th) suffered another disappointing loss in Round 21, going down to Fremantle in Perth by 27 points. In a performance that has become symptomatic of their season, the Blues held an eight-point lead at three-quarter time before being completely overrun, conceding seven goals to one in the final term.

Gold Coast Suns (6th) are flying, coming off a record-breaking 84-point demolition of Richmond. The victory was their 13th of the season, a new club record, and was built on the back of a completely dominant performance from their midfield.

While the Blues struggled, Harry McKay's intensity was notable, laying an incredible ten tackles for a player in his position.

Gold Coast co-captain Noah Anderson was best-on-ground against Richmond. He was prolific in the midfield, racking up game-highs in disposals (38) and score involvements (12), a performance that saw him reclaim the lead in one of the various Player of the Year award polls.

Despite their contrasting fortunes this season, Carlton holds a strong recent record over the Suns, having won the last three meetings between the clubs. The most recent clash was a 29-point victory for the Blues in Round 11 of last season.
