Burnley preview: Going down

Burnley begin this weekend's round of fixtures sitting in the bottom three and the relegation places, ten points adrift of safety. The Clarets have shown fight at times this season but are drifting down to the second division.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage, extending their current winless run of form to six matches across all competitions, beginning with an FA Cup fifth round loss to Mansfield Town.

Brighton preview: Soaring Seagulls

Brighton and Hove Albion, on the other hand, have begun to turn their form around as they sit just six points from the UEFA Champions League spots and just three outside of the other European places in the Premier League.

Fabian Hurzeler was under immense pressure a couple of months ago but the Seagulls have now won four of their last five matches after beating Liverpool by two goals to one at the AMEX Stadium before the international break.

Burnley team news: Laurent banned

The versatile Josh Laurent is missing through suspension for this weekend, while Tunisia international midfielder Hannibal Mejbri is unavailable due to a hamstring injury.

Axel Tuanzebe recovered from injury over the international break for the Democratic Republic of Congo as Scott Parker seeks something to finish the season well.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Dubravka; Tuanzebe, Esteve, Humphreys; Walker, Luis, Ugochukwu, Hartman; Anthony, Foster, Tchaouna

Unavailable: Beyer (Injured), Roberts (Fitness), Cullen (Injured), Laurent (Suspended), Mejbri (Injured), Tresor (Injured), Amdouni (Fitness)

Questionable: Tuanzebe (Fitness)

Brighton team news: Nothing fresh

In his pre-match press conference, Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns, although Lewis Dunk remains unavailable due to suspension.

Having withdrawn from the England U21 squad a couple of weeks ago, Jack Hinshelwood is believed to now be fine with Adam Webster and Stefanos Tzimas remaining sidelined.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Wieffer, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Milner, Gross; Gomez, Hinshelwood, Minteh; Welbeck

Unavailable: Webster (Injured), Dunk (Suspended), Tzimas (Injured)

Questionable:

Burnley vs Brighton prediction

Brighton can often be heavily, and often rightly, criticised for a laborious approach in possession, matched by a frustrating profligacy in front of goal. They are, quite often, though, the better of the two teams and, against Burnley, should dictate things. Burnley should ensure things don't get too out of hand but Brighton remain firm favourites for a fifth win in six matches as they make the long trip north to Lancashire on Saturday afternoon.

Burnley vs Brighton tip: Brighton to win & under 3.5 goals
