Jamie Mitchell (7-0-2) claimed the vacant WBA world bantamweight title with a victory over Shannon Courtenay back in October of last year and she will now undertake her first defence as she takes on Carly Skelly. The American is undefeated in her nine bouts to date and will fancy her chances of adding an eighth victory in this contest.
Carly Skelly (4-0-1) responded well to her draw with Amy Timlin as she got the better of Dorota Norek in her latest outing to set up this world title bout. Skelly has only had five fights in her career and this will be a big step up in class from what she has faced so far but she has nothing to lose.
THE PREDICTION
Jamie Mitchell will look to defend her WBA world bantamweight crown against Carly Skelly. The American is a big favourite but will have to be wary against the improving Brit who is just starting out in her career. Skelly will come on for this experience regardless but her lack of power could prove to be her downfall and Mitchell is expected to prevail.
